#eSkills4Girls online platform debuts: Highlights from the Gender and Mobiles Newsletter

A new issue of me and Alex's Gender and Mobiles Newsletter is out, and we are delighted to help spread the word about the eSkills4Girls.org online platform! Launched to help close the digital gender gap, this initiative is a flagship activity of Germany's 2017 G20 presidency.

We played a small role in this launch by authoring Women's Pathways to the Digital Sector: Stories of Opportunities and Challenges. We are thankful to GIZ and BMZ for entrusting us with this important work. Learning from the 22 storytellers was a phenomenal experience that illustrated just how far we have to go to achieve gender equality not only in technology, but in many areas of life.

One way to do this, which we also explore in the August 2017 newsletter edition, is to help boys and young men take matters into their own hands - #HeforShe style. The other top story from this issue comes from India and examines an initiative that uses mobile phones to help boys learn about gender equality. Although only 60,000 men in Rajasthan have accessed the IVR system so far, this is definitely a trend we hope takes off. We can't hold up the entire sky alone, so we sincerely hope that this will not be the last time we feature an initiative like this - Let's definitely have more of the same.

We would love your feedback on this month's issue. Please sound off in the comments!
